Having deleted half a dozen drafts of this post in the last few hours, I realize I don't actually know how to write about this Christmas without talking about Jon's dad's death six months ago. That's not an option at the moment, so I'm not even going to try.
Instead, I'll just share photos from one of the traditions we have maintained from our usual English Christmas bonanza: the Boxing Day walk through Suffolk countryside, coupled this year with a local hunt* that we saw off before ourselves setting foot across field and forest.
*Hunting with hounds has been illegal in the UK since the Hunting Act of 2004. The hunt we supported, like other hunts across the country, was essentially a day out for equestrians accompanied by dogs pursuing a pre-laid decoy scent.
